Many people are familiar with sterilizers, but do you know how to use them and what their purpose is? Below, the portable sterilizer manufacturer introduces some relevant information, hoping to help everyone:
Saturated steam sterilization is a commonly used physical method for killing organisms because high temperatures have a significant lethal effect on bacteria. The portable sterilizer manufacturer indicates that high temperatures cause bacterial denaturation and coagulation, enzymes lose their activity, thus leading to bacterial death. The thermal sterilization chamber is currently a widely used, reliable, and mature sterilization method. There are usually two methods: wet heat and dry heat.
Suitable for medical and health institutions, scientific research, agriculture, and other units, it is an ideal equipment for sterilizing medical devices, dressings, glassware, and culture media solutions. Portable sterilizers are essential testing equipment for food factories and drinking water plants applying for QS and HACCP certifications. Dry heat sterilizers also have precedents for new uses in the medical field, such as drying respirator tubes.
Sterilization methods:
A high-pressure steam sterilizer is a double-layered metal cylinder with water between the two layers. The outer layer is solid, with a thick metal lid on top. There are screws on the side of the lid to tightly close the lid, so that steam will not leak out, thus increasing steam pressure and raising the temperature accordingly.
It is equipped with an exhaust valve and a safety valve to regulate steam pressure, a thermometer and a pressure gauge to indicate internal temperature and pressure, and an internal perforated metal shelf for placing items to be sterilized.
To use a steam sterilizer, add water to the outer cylinder and place the sterilized items in the inner cylinder. Cover the sterilizer, tighten the screws to ensure it is sealed. Heat the sterilizer using gas or an electric stove, and simultaneously open the exhaust valve to exhaust cold air; otherwise, the pressure indicated on the pressure gauge will not be entirely steam pressure, resulting in incomplete sterilization.
After all the cold air has been exhausted, close the exhaust valve. Continue heating. When the pressure gauge gradually rises to the required pressure, adjust the heat source to maintain the pressure and temperature (be careful not to exceed the limit to avoid accidents) for 15-30 minutes. After the sterilization time is reached, stop heating. When the pressure drops to zero, slowly open the exhaust valve to exhaust the remaining gas and open the lid to remove the items. Do not suddenly open the exhaust valve before the pressure drops to zero to prevent the liquid inside the sterilizer from spraying out.
The portable sterilizer manufacturer indicates that high-pressure steam sterilization is a wet heat sterilization method with three advantages: First, bacterial proteins are easily denatured during wet heat sterilization; second, wet heat has strong penetration; third, when steam turns into water, it releases a large amount of heat, enhancing the sterilization effect; therefore, it is a good sterilization method. All items that can withstand high temperatures and humidity, such as culture media, saline, clothing, gauze, cotton, dressings, glass equipment, and infectious waste, can be sterilized using this method. Currently, portable sterilizers are simple to operate and safe to use.
